Surge Animal Sanctuary - Microgreen & Mushroom ‘Growtainer’

Mansfield, Nottingham
Project duration: 3 days

Surge Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary based up near Mansfield in the north of England and this is run under the ambassador ship of earthling Ed. Ed made a call out on Instagram asking for help with potential projects in the sanctuary. One of the projects was to grow mushrooms in a shipping container and that they needed help. I saw this as a great opportunity as I had already set up my shipping container for mushrooms and micrograms. I contacted Surge and within a few weeks I had made the deal to go up there and do the job for them just for material cost so they didn’t have to make too much expense and that the money would go back towards the animals and could support the sanctuary and the restaurant The unity diner in future. With all the materials this job took me three days from start to finish to deliver a full functioning Room shipping container and within the first few weeks of it running they were producing lines at main mushrooms that then supported a new menu which had liars main mushroom lobster buns on the menu. It was exciting to see how this come to fruition and how my skill helped the sanctuary but also helped me gain more confidence in doing it for people instead of for myself and become a service.

It’s nice to know people will be eating luxury mushrooms cooked in a unique way that people would choose mushrooms that are healthy and tasty instead of meat.
