Joe’s Veggie Garden with Fencing & Trellis Arches
Upminster, Essex
Project duration: 6 days
We had quite a limited budget for this project, which meant we had to get very creative with upcycling materials to create the dream garden for the client! Our focus was setting up her garden so that she could enjoy a year of growing her own vegetables.
We enclosed the garden with picket fencing that we built from wooden pallets, as well as creating an archway and a gate at each entrance, all painted black. To soften this look, we installed a flower bed on the exterior and used up-cycled bricks as edging. The client already had 2 sleeper raised beds, so we prepared these for her and filled them with well-rotted horse manure, for healthy growth of her vegetables.
The land was close to a road, so we added 70m of willow cuttings to eventually make a living screen to block the road noise and visibility.
I personally love the challenge of upcycling low-cost products to make an expensive-looking garden, the client was happy and so were we!
I’m excited to update the photos of this project as once the flowers grow they will really pop against the black pallet fence.
